WHOIS Lookup & RDAP Domain Details
Use a WHOIS lookup to inspect public RDAP and registry WHOIS registration data, including available registrar details, creation and expiry dates, nameservers and status.

How to Use This WHOIS Lookup
Enter a complete domain name, including its extension, to inspect the public registration record. This lookup requests structured RDAP information from the supported authoritative service, with registry WHOIS as a fallback where supported. A website URL can be normalised to its registrable domain. Check that the resulting spelling and suffix match the name you intended to investigate before interpreting the response.
Use a domain registration lookup when you need to complete a domain registrar lookup, examine published dates or understand a registration status. For a keyword across several endings, return to the bulk checker instead of repeating single searches. For an existing list whose backlink strength is the main question, use the dedicated DR comparison. Each tool answers a different part of the investigation.
- Enter the complete domain, including its extension, without a page path.
- Read the returned record, source and check time; keep redacted or missing fields unresolved.
- For a registration or renewal decision, confirm current conditions directly with the registrar.
What a Public Registration Record Can Contain
A WHOIS lookup can expose useful registration facts without revealing every detail about the person or organisation using a website. Publication rules vary, personal fields can be redacted, and some registries provide fewer fields than others. Missing information stays missing; it is not filled with estimates or inferred from a website name.
Registrar and Registry Status
The registrar is the provider managing the registration relationship; it is not necessarily the website host. Registry status codes can indicate transfer restrictions, holds or lifecycle conditions. Read the supplied codes in context and consult the registrar if you need to change or recover a registration. A status alone does not explain the website’s commercial activity.
Registration and Expiry Dates
A domain registration date describes the record returned by the source. Domain age calculated from that date is different from website age. An expiry date is not a guaranteed public release date: renewals, grace periods, redemption rules and registry policies can affect what happens next. Do not schedule a purchase solely around a displayed expiration.
Nameservers and DNSSEC
Nameservers identify the published delegation, while DNSSEC indicates available signing information. Neither field tells you whether a business is active. Request DNS records separately when investigating configuration. A DNS answer may describe a CDN or service provider rather than the origin server or the organisation that owns the product.
Why RDAP Is Used for Modern Registration Data
ICANN designated RDAP as the definitive source for gTLD registration information from 28 January 2025. The familiar wording remains useful for the task, but the underlying RDAP lookup returns structured data over the web. Country-code extensions can follow different coverage and publication arrangements. Selection in an extension list does not mean every ending has a working public service.
This page chooses the appropriate service through the IANA bootstrap directory. It displays the source and check time so you can understand where an observation came from. Short caches reduce repeated upstream requests. If two tools disagree, compare the exact domain, query time and status meaning before deciding that one record proves availability.
No Record Found Is Not a Purchase Guarantee
A successful WHOIS lookup with no matching record is different from a timeout or an unsupported service. It can be useful evidence, but names may still be reserved, restricted or subject to registrar conditions. Unknown responses are kept separate rather than treated as free domains. The tool does not register, reserve or sell a name.
For an important decision, recheck the current response and confirm eligibility, price and terms directly with a registrar. For competitor research, visit the website and assess its product yourself. Keep the registration observation separate from your conclusion about the business, and use our methodology to understand missing fields or different result states.
